Relationships - Would you marry or be in a relationship for mutual benefit rather than love? Do you think relationships based on mutual benefit, whether for economic or social gain, are more lasting than relationships based on love? Do you think society judges relationships based on mutual benefit? Why?
Hello #qc-community, I was a little weird about this week’s topic because of the level of spills required. Hehe, let us start doing the spill from our perspectives.

Relationships are important in our lives, especially when we set our goals and objectives regarding them. Days are gone when people go into relationships blindly or with speculations like when we get to the bridge, we cross it.” Humm, so many bridges will come, and when one fails to prepare, then the individual prepares to fail.
Therefore for me, I will be in a relationship for both mutual benefit and love. This is because, in relationships, there are financial, emotional, career, and development needs. There is also a need for respect, understanding, and love among Individuals as well as a need to communicate often with honesty and clarity
In relationships based on mutual benefit, there is a sort of memorandum of understanding and clearly set goals for its success; the I’s and T’s are dotted. There is also a roadmap designed to achieve set goals. Those involved play their cards knowing what is at stake and supporting each other to succeed.
However, the cons in this kind of relationship tend to cancel the pros. This is because, most often, it tilts towards competition, demanding, and unhealthy living. Those involved also feel pressured, pointing to the overwhelming set of goals. Here also, the relationship is based on personal gains, connections, and arrangee marriage. For example, someone networking to get hooked with the king's son or daughter for affluence or power. This type of relationship mostly thrives among the bureaucrats, politicians, and the elites in society.

On the other hand, relationships based on love are beautiful and stronger, but remember, they said, he who blows the piper dictates the tune. Such relationships, when constantly faced with financial lack, career stagnancy, and drought, drain those involved, and most times, it may deteriorate if there is no succour in sight.
And yes, society judges relationships based on mutual benefits, as it is focused on material gains like financial support, connections, influence, and power. But I think it is the individuals involved who would determine how they want to live their lives. The law has made it clear that anyone above 18 years has the right to make such decisions.
In conclusion, relationships built on love fail as well as those built on mutual benefits.
Relationships should be a combination of the two: love and mutual benefit. While love is needed to attend to the emotional demands of the relationship, mutual benefits should keep the relationship flowing with the material needs that keep the soul and body together.
