QC Community Contest question for the week is...
"Festivities - What festivities do you celebrate in December? How do you celebrate them? With whom do you celebrate? What traditions do you have to celebrate it?"
What festivities do you celebrate in December?
There are two celebrations in December that we do but we just celebrate it as one for efficiency. December 25th falls the celebration for Christ's birth but a day before that, on the 24th, is mine.
Believe it or not, I was born on December 24th but we celebrate it on the 25th as a family.
How do you celebrate them?
On the 24th, my best friend goes to my place and we celebrate my birthday together. Nothing special. Mostly, just hang out then grab a pizza or something. It's a small thing but I appreciate it very much.
On the 25th, I go to my best friend's place and celebrate it with his family. We do a weird tradition started by my best friend where him and I cook 2 kilos of spaghetti every year. Doesn't sound much but we never finished that because there's only 5 people who would eat that but what's more funny is that they have a dog and everything else goes to him so it's like a 1 day party for the cute doggo.
With whom do you celebrate?
During my birthday, my best friend celebrates it with me. It's just the two of us. Sometimes, I go back home to celebrate it with my parents.
On Christmas, the day after, I celebrate the Christmas season with his family. There's 5 of us in total, 1 dog, 3 cats and 2 hamsters. Really fun family.
What traditions do you have to celebrate it?
I think I already answered this. We cook 2 kilos of spaghetti as the regular tradition. We also cook other foods than this like Fried Chicken, Shanghai rolls, ice cream, cake, etc.
Oh, and before I forgot, he told me the reason for this spaghetti tradition.
Disclaimer: The next story is not for the weak stomach.
Two years ago, their dog was suffering from intestinal worms. However, vet is really expensive. So, what they did is cook a lot of spaghetti since it's also Christmas season. Then, the doggo had a party. It's like eat all you can party for him.
Eventually, after that day, the dog become so full that the worm itself decided to get out. (Lol). The dog puke some spaghetti and along that is a BIG worm. It's both hilarious and disgusting.
Since then, every year, they cook a lot of spaghetti as food for the celebration and sort of cleansing for the doggo's stomach.
