I have always been ambitious but never to the Corporate greed level I have experienced throughout my working life. I was always keen to grow, learn and get ahead in many areas but never to the determent of others.
I remember the good old days when a job and a career was path for life not just short term gain. A great example was a factory I used to work at. It start off as a corporate. A group of farmers getting together all chipping in and building a factory to process the products that they grew.
Working there was like joining a big family, the factory was a big part of the local community. Everything was was done in house, it just kept getting bigger and stronger every year, quality and there brand name was everything.
It was very successful for many years, until globalization and cheaper produces started to flood the market. I witnessed a quick fire race to the bottom in every aspect of the business all in the name of progress.
The corporate of farmers got bought out by an international global giant and the place was cut to the bone, reductions and impossible production targets imposed.
In the early days people rarely left, I knew one bloke that worked there for over 40 years but later staff turn over was constant. I do not want to be too harsh on the greed because the place needs to be competitive to survive in the modern world. Like everything there just needs to be the right balance.
