I believe that both are required in order for it to last. If there is only one or the other, there will always be conflict in the relationship.

This is such a great point. Most of the time people think that love is all that they need to have a good relationship, but the material part is also important. And is exactly as you said, if some part is missing there will be conflict, resentment, and they will look for what they need elsewhere.
