Floods at a number of points in North Aceh, Indonesia, gradually receded and refugees began to return to their homes. Meanwhile, aid for flood victims continued to flow from various parties, including PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) which distributed aid to several refugee points.
The handover was carried out by the Vice President of the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL) & Public Relations of PT PIM, Nasrun, and his staff at several disaster posts. The handover of aid was also attended by the Commander of Kodim 0103 North Aceh, Lieutenant Colonel (Arm) Oke Kristianto as the person in charge of distributing aid to flood victims in Lhoksukon, North Aceh.
"The delivery of aid was carried out at several points during the last few days," said Nasrun who was accompanied by several of the staff, Saturday (8/1/2022).
According to him, assistance in the form of basic materials and other necessities was handed over to the Quick Response Action team (ACT) post and continued to the public kitchen of the North Aceh Community Social Workers Association (IPSM) in Gampong Alue Buket, Lhoksukon District. "In addition, assistance is also provided for flood victims in locations that have an impact along the road traversed by the PKBL & Public Relations team," continued Nasrun.
He added that emergency response assistance for flood victims is a form of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda's concern to help flood-affected communities through the company's social and environmental responsibility (TJSL). Previously, PT PIM also helped flood victims in Gampong Tambon Baroh and Gampong Tambon Tunong, Dewantara District, North Aceh.
In addition to providing basic needs assistance, the medical team from the PIM Hospital Hospital also joined the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of North Aceh Regency to provide health services at the Pirak Timu refugee camp and several other sub-districts affected by the flood.
Rizal Fahmi as the person in charge of the Lhokseumawe Rapid Response Action team (ACT) said that assistance from PT PIM and other parties reduced the burden of flood victims who had been unable to work and had to live in refugee camps. The same thing was conveyed by Mukhtaruddin as chairman of IPSM North Aceh.
A flood victim from Gampong Baro, Lhoksukon, Abu Bakar, said that assistance from various parties had not been evenly distributed to flood victims. "There are several villages that have not received any assistance," he said.
Abu Bakar and his family had fled to a relative's house in Syamlira Baru District and only returned home after the flood subsided. "We are still cleaning each other's houses," he added. He suggested that in addition to the distribution of basic material assistance, the form of assistance provided could also be in the form of personnel, such as helping to clean flood victims' houses.
