During the day, the sun is high in the sky and the warm rays beckon me to the beach. It's become a daily routine for me, almost like a ritual. I pack a bag with some snacks, sunscreen, and a good book, and head out to my favorite spot on the sand.
The beach is only a short drive away from my house, so I can easily fit in a few hours of relaxation before it's time to pick up my son from school. I've found that this little escape helps me to recharge and reset, making me a happier and more present parent when my son gets in the car.
As I walk towards the water, I can feel the sand shifting beneath my feet. The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore fills my ears, and the salty smell of the ocean air tickles my nose. I take a deep breath and let it all in, feeling grateful for this small moment of peace.
Eventually, it's time to pack up and head back to reality. I shake the sand off my towel, slip on my sandals, and make my way to the car. The drive home is always a little bit easier, with the stresses of the day fading away.
Going to the beach has become more than just a way to kill time before picking up my son. It's a way to let go of exhaustion and stress, to reconnect with nature, and to find some peace in the chaos of everyday life. And for that, I'm grateful.
