Visiting a village area in my province is certainly a story in itself, there are various community activities that are not usually found in urban areas.
The culture and atmosphere are also very different. In addition, the atmosphere in the village is very inspiring, especially the opportunity to get around in the morning, when the fog still surrounds the village.
Some time ago I visited one of the residential areas in a village at the foot of the mountain, precisely in Peusangan Selatan sub-district, Bireuen district, Aceh-Indonesia.
And luckily this area was entering the rice harvest period, so I was able to walk around the rice fields and capture a number of farmer activities that I did not meet in my city, Lhokseumawe.
When I came to visit the rice fields, the farmers were busy taking care of their rice which was about to enter the harvest period. However, farmers are faced with two types of pests that always interfere when their rice begins to turn yellow.
The sparrows and leaf pests are of great concern to farmers, apart from damaging rice plants, sparrows often break rice branches that start to turn yellow. As a result, the number of rice harvests could be lost if not handled seriously by farmers.
There are two ways that farmers repel these pests, the first is to spray pesticides on their rice plants to repel the damaging leafhoppers.
The next way is to attach nets to their rice plants to avoid the rice plants being visited by sparrows which can cause their rice plants to break.
A number of farmers were very busy, I heard their cheers chasing away the sparrows. The activity of protecting ppadi plants from these pests has been carried out since the morning, they take a short break during the afternoon, and continue in the afternoon until dusk.
