I hope you enjoyed the weekend, especially the mothers. Now to start this week I bring you another strange beetle. Apparently we are in beetle season and since it has been raining every day for the last week it helps them to come out. As you can see in the following pictures this beetle looks like an armored tank.
His color is like a perfect camouflage for the season since everything is full of dry leaves and he has that appearance. Just by walking among the leaves on the ground it is as if he disappears and when he feels in danger he remains motionless for a while.
His attitude was very favorable for me to take several pictures of him since he does not act like most insects, which panic and become restless or simply fly away. This one, on the other hand, was watching me for a while, walked a bit and stayed watching me for several minutes.
In the following image you can appreciate the real size of this insect and you will understand how difficult it is to follow it or find it, I think that if they did not enter the house at night it would be impossible for me to find them by chance here in the yard. Espero hayan disfrutado del fin de semana sobre todo las madres. Ahora para iniciar esta semana les traigo otro escarabajo extraño. Al parecer estamos en época de escarabajos además como ha llovido todos los días desde hace una semana eso los ayuda a salir. Como pueden observar en las siguientes fotos este escarabajo parece un tanque blindado.
Su color es como un camuflaje perfecto para la época ya que todo está lleno de hojas secas y él tiene esa apariencia. Con tan solo caminar entre las hojas en el suelo es como si desapareciera además de que cuando se siente en peligro se queda inmóvil por un rato.
Su actitud me resulto muy favorable para sacarle varias fotos ya que no actúa como la mayoría de los insectos, que entran en pánico y se ponen intranquilos o simplemente salen volando. En cambio este me estuvo observando un rato camino un poco y se quedó observándome por varios minutos.
En la siguiente imagen pueden apreciar el tamaño real de este insecto y entenderán lo difícil que es seguirlo o encontrarlo, creo que si no entraran a la casa en la noche me fuese imposible encontrarlos por azar aquí en el patio. Me despido deseándoles un feliz día para todos.
