1990s Boybands
Being a 1990s kid, I witnessed how boybands dominated the music industry during that era. During the first half of the 1990s, there weren't many boybands. New Kids On The Block were huge during the second half of the 1980s but lost their momentum during the first half of the 1990s. Take That became popular, but their fame was limited to certain territories. They only became global with their song "Back For Good", and that was actually around the time the group was nearing their hiatus or disbandment.
However, a new breed of boybands emerged in the second half of the 1990s. Backstreet Boys came along, though fame didn't come quickly for them despite scoring the hit "We've Got It Goin' On". Their peak was achieved around four years after their debut. Eventually, Backstreet Boys became the best-selling boyband of all time.
NSYNC also arrived on the music scene, and they became one of the biggest boybands of all time. They broke the Backstreet Boys' record for the biggest first week sales in the US with their album "No Strings Attached".
Non-American boybands also became popular in many countries, like the Irish boy groups Boyzone and Westlife. The latter remained successful throughout the 2000s after debuting in 1999.
Saturday
It's so hot even in the morning. Waking up feels like we had suffered from heat exhaustion. We're unable to support our sign language field service because we decided to have a rest.
Arrived in Bagsit River
We arrived in Bagsit River that time, and we don't know what to do. That's why there I am waiting, and sought a place for shelter.
