A Bilimb fruit tree was planted next to our house 4-5 years ago. The tree is now quite full. The tree has started bearing fruit.
Bilimbi looks a lot like Patal, but smaller. The fruit is a few cm. Is large and the color is bright, light green. Bilimbi tree bears a lot of fruit and holds it very strangely. The branches of the tree, of course, bear fruit around the stem. The trees are not very big, they are up to several meters high. The leaves are like Kamranga. Regularly pruning the leaves and soaking the stalks with water, the tree bears fruit throughout the year. The tree blooms more in February and bears fruit throughout the year. In winter the leaves of Bilimbi tree fall off but with the arrival of spring new buds and leaves start sprouting again. A full-grown tree yields about several kilograms of bilirubin a year.

Bilimbi is eaten raw. Like Bilimbi Kamranga, it tastes good with salt. Bilimbi is not paired with small fish and pulses. Bilimbi can also be used in pulses or meat. Moreover, like Bilimbi Kamranga, it is good to eat with salt. The fruit is made into pickles or chutneys with sour, ripe bilimbi. Chili and pickles made with bilimbi are very interesting. Although the fruit is very sour in its raw state, it does not become sour after cooking or after making chutney or pickle.
Bilimbi trees are commonly found there in the backyard or yard. The fruit is usually eaten raw with salt. In the Philippines, bilimbi curried or such sinigang and paksiw are added to add spice to common food. The imperfect bilimbi is served with rice and beans in Costa Rica for flavor. East, in where the tree originates, curry is sometimes added.
In Kerala and Bhatkal in India it is used for making pickles and for making fish curry, especially with sardines. On the other hand, in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa, this fruit is usually eaten raw with salt and spices. Sun-dried bilimbi is called sunti in Assam. Sunti is also popular in Assamese cuisine in Bilimbi Assam. It is used instead of mango chutney. In Sicily, it is often used as an ingredient to flavor many Seychelles crawl dishes, especially fish dishes. Also, it is often used in a shark meat dish, called satini reken (almost always) fried fish.
