Traditional Handmade Bamboo Products

A traditional industry of Bangladesh is bamboo products. The collection of bamboo products can be seen in the bazaars or fairs of our country. Although there is an abundance of bamboo products, the demand for these products is very low. That is why there is no general presence of customers in the shops of bamboo products.

Earlier there was a huge demand for bamboo products. Many everyday items are made from bamboo. Various furniture, various items used in agriculture, children's toys, hand fans, various furniture, besides the use of bamboo in various daily activities could be observed. But currently the use of these products is decreasing dramatically. One of the reasons for this is the increase in the price of bamboo.

Modern products are taking over the bamboo products market. Because modern plastic products are cheap and durable. There are many bamboo fishing products in the market, or bamboo products for daily use, but there are no customers for these products. From this it is evident that people have almost no interest in these products.

Due to the increase in the price of bamboo, the price of products made of bamboo is increasing. So many are losing interest in purchasing these products. Many of those involved in the bamboo industry and trade in bamboo products are still working to sustain the traditional profession. Many others have left this profession and chosen some other profession. Because bamboo products are not as profitable as before.

Many men and women of the village are still involved in this profession. Many skilled artisans are involved in this traditional cottage industry. But the future of this industry is under threat. Due to modernization, there are some obstacles and limitations which have set the bamboo industry back a lot. Steps should be taken to resolve such stalemate in our traditional craft so that this industry never faces extinction.
