Hello to everyone,
Today I want to talk to you about Beyoğlu Pera. It was a place I liked very much that I had visited in Istanbul before. I will share with you the photos I took here. Let's talk a little bit about the history of the region. Although this place is known as Beyoğlu today, its first known name in history is Pera. The first settlement permit in the region was given to the French. Later, with the increase of Greeks in the region, people from other communities started to migrate over time.
In this way, the Pera region has gained historical and cultural importance. In particular, there are many churches and old historical buildings. The French Consulate General building, located on the right side of the Istiklal Street entrance, was built in 1869. Dingo's Stable, located between Taksim Maksemi and the French Consulate building, caught my attention. Dingo's Stable, which is a phrase that has entered our language, comes from here.
At that time, trams were pulled by horses in Istanbul. Since the horses were constantly carrying passengers, a barn was built near Taksim Square for the horses to rest when they got tired, and the owner of the barn was a Greek-born Dingo. Since he was fond of drinking, it was not clear who went in and out of the barn while he was spending time in the taverns.
Galata Tower, on the other hand, is one of the most visited places, and it has been a place that I also enjoyed visiting. I did not go to the top of the tower, but took a photo in front of it. There are so many beautiful places in our country, especially knowing the history excites me. If you haven't been before, you will love Taksim Beyoğlu Galata. If you have been, I suggest you go again when you have time. Thank you for reading.
