Our journey starts from home in sunny and hot weather. We are planning a vacation for one or two days to the highlands of Gayo, Central Aceh, Indonesia which is famous for its mild and cold weather. Our enthusiasm for this adventure was high, but an unexpected incident slightly hindered the journey.
After traveling for about two hours, suddenly the sky was overcast and heavy rain poured down on the earth. Although we had planned to take a vacation, we did not want to take the dangerous risk of continuing our journey in unsafe weather conditions. As a result, we decided to find shelter while the rain let up.
Not far from there, we found a cafe that is suitable as a resting place called Hill Resto. The atmosphere inside the cafe is so comfortable that it feels like waiting for the rain to stop and the thick fog to disappear. Even though this incident was surprising, we chose to see the positive side by enjoying the atmosphere and a cup of hot coffee served there.
However, the bad weather did not stop with heavy rains. But the road conditions are more dangerous with the road being dark because of the fog and slippery because of the rain. Moreover, we realize that our journey will pass through mountain paths which are famous for their twisty and dangerous challenges, with intimidating sharp turns. Accidents around the Salak mountains are not uncommon, therefore we must be extra careful.
We decided to wait longer at Hill Resto, hoping that the rain would subside and the fog would clear, and the road would be safer to walk on. Finally after waiting for hours, the rain stopped and the thick fog slowly disappeared. It felt like a gift from heaven when we were able to continue our journey safely. Even though it was half past six in the afternoon, we still decided to continue our journey even though we might arrive at our destination quite late at night. Most importantly, we want to make sure everything will be okay.
Finally we arrived in the cold Gayo highlands feeling relieved and happy. We immediately looked for accommodation that was comfortable and suitable for a short break, preparing ourselves to explore the beautiful panorama around Lake Lut Tawar that we had heard about for a long time.
The next day, we continued our adventure with gusto. Arriving at the shores of Lake Lut Tawar, beautiful scenery is immediately presented in front of the eyes. Calm and clear lakes combined with towering green mountains make us amazed by the incomparable natural beauty.
We wandered around and enjoyed every moment around Lake Lut Tawar. The cold lake water is refreshing after the long journey we did. The stunning scenery makes us fascinated by the romantic nuances that this nature has to offer.
Not to forget, we also had the opportunity to explore around the lake by renting a boat which allows us to feel the serenity of the lake. We couldn't take our eyes off the mountain and forest landscape around us.
Vacationing in the Gayo highlands especially around Lake Lut Tawar is an experience we will never forget. A challenging adventure at first tested our toughness, but when we finally arrived at our destination, all the effort and difficulties paid off with the stunning natural beauty.
