Polygon network experienced a major network performance issue on 1/4/2022. The issue brought all transactions to a halt. After digging deeper into the issue, I found this was related to a Dapp called Sunflower ( https://sunflower-farmers.com/ ). Sunflower’s smart contract was using 71% of the network utilization. This also caused the Matic gas price to reach 600 Gwei within 24 hours . Opensea NFT bids, sales and listings came to a halt and were delayed for hours. Trying to get answers from the Polygon developers was hard to come by and they seem to always be mute when it comes to network related issues. As noted early in Dec they secretly patch a contract vulnerability that allowed a hacker to steal $2 million in Matic . Sunflowers Polygon contract id : https://polygonscan.com/address/0x6e5fa679211d7f6b54e14e187d34ba547c5d3fe0
From Dapp Radar shows a 7 day historical view of Sunflowers activity and as you can see , Jan 4th was their highest day to date.
Polygon Gas Tracker as of 1/5/2022
Polygon halted all Gas swaps for Matic since late Jan. 3rd.
I am curious to know if they will address the issue publicly. We have only heard from other Polygon users that the issue is being investigated. Polygon is known for their low gas fee’s and the next best thing to Ethereum .
