¿Christmas since October?

For days I have been thinking about the presidential decree that declared that starting October 1st Christmas will be celebrated in all of Venezuela. This seems absurd to me, because for me Christmas is something else, it has another meaning. Christmas is subject to the birth of the Child Jesus, that is where the beautiful tradition is born and we all get together on those days of Christmas and New Year to celebrate that God sent his only son to be born in a poor and humble straw in the portal of Bethlehem and live among us as one more man, who came to teach us to be better people, to save us to have eternal life.

¿Navidad desde Octubre?

Desde hace días vengo pensando en el decreto presidencial que declaró que a partir del primero de octubre se celebra en toda Venezuela la navidad. Esto me aprecio algo absurdo, porque para mí la navidad es otra cosa, tiene otro significado. La navidad está sujeta al nacimiento del Niño Jesús, de allí es que nace la hermosa tradición y todos nos juntamos en esos días de navidad y año nuevo para celebrar que Dios envió a su único hijo para que naciera en unas pobres y humildes pajas en el portal de Belén y viviese entre nosotros como un hombre más, que vino a enseñarnos a ser mejores personas, a salvarnos para tener vida eterna.

Every Christmas Jesus is born in our hearts and stays with us until the next Christmas.

Christmas brings with it a myriad of customs that have been rooted in every family and have been passed down from generation to generation. But Christmas is definitely about family togetherness, enjoying the party, the joy, the hugs, the good customs, the nativity scenes, the decorations, everything is beautiful when Christmas comes.

Cada navidad Jesús nace en nuestro corazón y se queda con nosotros hasta la próxima navidad.

La navidad trae consigo un sinfín de costumbres que han estado arraigadas en cada familia y han sido traspasadas de generación en generación. Pero definitivamente la navidad es unión familia, es disfrutar de la fiesta, la alegría, los abrazos, las buenas costumbres, los pesebres, la decoración, todo es bonito cuando llega navidad.

That's why I don't see the sense in decreeing Christmas right now, when parents at home are just organizing the return of school vacations, the new school year for our children, college, among others.

If we declare that it is already Christmas since October and people start decorating, then what happens when December arrives, we will already be bored of having trees, tablecloths, lights, nativity scenes at home.

Por eso no le veo sentido a decretar una navidad desde ahorita, cuando apenas los padres en casa estamos organizando el regreso de vacaciones escolares, el nuevo año escolar de nuestros hijos, la universidad, entre otros.

Si declaramos que ya es navidad desde octubre y la gente comienza a decorar, entonces que sucede cuando llegue el mes de diciembre, ya estaremos aburridos de tener los árboles, los manteles, luces, pesebres en casa.

In the catholic religion everything has a reason for things, Christmas begins with the novena of aguinaldos on December 16 until December 24 at midnight where we all pray and uncover the baby Jesus, we sing carols and we rejoice because the baby Jesus was born. Then ends on February 2 "Candlemas Day" where we celebrate the presentation of the son of God in the temple. In many temples of my Andean land "La paradura del niño" is organized, a beautiful tradition where people unite and walk everywhere to the sound of the cuatro and drums, with the baby Jesus in their arms.

En la religión católica todo tiene un porqué de las cosas, la navidad se inicia con la novena de aguinaldos en 16 de diciembre hasta el 24 a la media noche donde todos oramos y destapamos al niño Jesús, cantamos villancicos y nos alegramos porque el niño Jesús nació. Luego finaliza en 2 de febrero “El día de la candelaria” donde celebramos la presentación del hijo de Dios en el templo. En muchos templos de mi tierra andina se organiza “La paradura del niño” una tradición hermosa donde la gente se une y pasean por todos lados al son del cuatro y tambor, con el niño Jesús en brazos.

Thinking about all this I was inspired to take these photos, they are pine cones that harmoniously decorate our spaces at home. I know that today the big stores offer beautiful items, full of brightness and color, but even so, I want to stay with the simple, the simple, the traditional. This really inspires me and takes a few sighs from the soul, from the heart.

Pensando en todo esto me inspiré para realizar estas fotos, son piñas del árbol de pino que decoran armónicamente nuestros espacios en casa. Sé que hoy en día las grandes tiendas ofrecen hermosos artículos, llenos de brillo y color, pero aun así, me quiero quedar con lo sencillo, lo simple, lo tradicional. Esto realmente me inspira y me saca unos cuantos suspiros desde el alma, desde el corazón.
