Nice & surroundings
On my first morning around Nice what else can I have in mind other than seeing the city itself. Since I stay out of the center close to the airport I am forced to make an exception and ride to the city instead of my favourite way which is walking. Hence, here I am with Colline du Château in the background, giving way to pedestrians only feeling sorry that the challenging light conditions spared you the beauty of the first one:
And here's my bike parked at the foothill of Colline du Château, a fantastic hill overlooking the city.
The place is good enough for a Petabyte of pictures but I'll only put a few here just to get an idea in case you criminally haven't paid a visit to this wonderful city yet:
I could spend days around there but I'll leave it for the time I find the love of my life in Nice and reside there. Now I have to go back to my bike and roll down this stunning hill. So nice to ride around there:
As I ride up to Villefranche sur Mer I only confirm the obvious - that beauty waits the visitors in and out of Nice. I take a break under the shade of this tree to picture the local marina:
Then find a spot with wider view to this lovely town:
And even wider:
Old fortresses always attract me and as I leave Villefranche the local one is no exception:
At this point I feel like tasting a bit of how Nice's beach looks like so drive back to the city and park my bike with view to start walking:
I must admit I am impressed that I am able to find a spot for my bike relatively easy there in the heart of the summer. If only all places were as easy. I'm definitely impressed by the beach itself too:
Being nice, neat and relatively quiet is not my surprise as much as the fact that it has no infrastructure at all. And I LOVE this. I'm falling in love with the city more and more on every step I take. At the same time I wondered whether the lack of crowd is a side effect of the terrorist attack that took place there months earlier. I don't speak French to cross check it but hope not. The city feels like it never happened unless you observe the eyes of the security guys at big malls.
Definitely not by looking at images like this:
I drive back to Catherine's apartment and it's time to satisfy my stomach after my eyes. Today's menu: Fresh pasta stuffed with artichoke a la Orestis:
Isn't it lovely to finish a nice day, or any day with a walk by the sea while the sun sets? As I do so I capture images at the local marina like this one:
See you in part 4.
