Again I've come to the decry the pain I feel whenever I see a patient with sickle cell disease present in my clinic, the pains all over makes me wish it never had to happen.
My first point of anger is pointed to their parents for choosing to continue in a relationship that would result in a child who lives with pain.
Very often than not I am happy to hear of sickle cell patients who have survived and fought well to ensure a healthy life and a promising future, however there yet many young kids out there who are in their early childhood to teenage years Who are suffering from pain they cannot understand why they are the only ones who have them.
I ve heard of several celebs who are Sickle cell patients and yet still thriving, here on hive we also do have them.
Whenever I get my chance with them,
I take my time to teach them why they have this condition and what led to it and how it could have been prevented and why they should fight to have a promising future by living a good and healthy lifestyle. We can't afford to be ignorant.
There has been very sad news I got today of the demise of one of such patients whom I have very much cared for at some point in time.
We are not doctors because we are superhumans we are very much humans and we know just how it hurts when a mother loses a son when a child loses a father and also when pain kills the child all in the Name of Love.
Love is a complex thing, my love for you can definitely affect another person even if they have not been born yet.
Love should go with knowledge love should be well considered if everyone is going to be a beneficiary of it. Love should never make anyone suffer and it should make everyone happy and fulfilled even if they're not yet in the picture.
There is no place in this world for such a love that would lead to the untimely death of a human being. No one should be a sacrificial lamb because of somebody's selfishness and call it love.
Technology has been ongoing to improve the outcomes of sickle cell disease patients and also helping early detection however the greatest chance of us fighting this menace lies within the hands of people.
Let us leave and let others even though they're not yet Born get the opportunity to leave as well.
Sickle cell disease is dangerous and should not be left to continue to kill people. While medicine and health research in technology are trying to keep there my life please do not increase the population because you fell in love blindly.
Know your genotype and that of your partner and find out if they both are compatible.
If they are not, kindly let each other know that is enough reason for such relationship not to continue so as not to cause harm to someone you both will love so much.
