In modern medicine, at least in my experience here in America, everything that is considered "normal" is based on a Statistical Average
For instance:
Normal body temp is 98.6°F. Mine is 97.2 nearly every day.
So you take 100 people, take their temps at about the same time every day when they appear to be in good health.
You take those numbers, add them together and divide by 100; the statistical average.
EVERY metric used by medicine today is based on statistical averages, from our recommended weight, to what we should weigh at a certain age based on our body type.
I am not a statistic
I want my Dr's to look at ME, listen to ME, HEAR what I am saying about my health.
After all I know my body better than anyone else.
They say you don't have a fever until you are over 100°F. So that is 2.4°F over your normal.
Therefore I would have a fever if I were at 99.8°F
Picky? When I feel bad, I feel feverish (Febrile) and MY temp is 99°, they will say "No, you don't have a fever, you're not over 100°F" and nothing will be done.
Currently, according to Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine [7], fever is defined as a core temperature (rectal) of 37.5°C–38.3°C (99.5°F–100.9°F), a skin temperature (axillary) >37.2°C (>99°F), a morning oral temperature >37.2°C (>99°F), or late afternoon oral temperature >37.7°C (>99.9°F), with lower thresholds applicable to frail elderly persons. The Merck Manual defines fever as an oral temperature >37.8°C (>100.0°F) or a rectal temperature >38.2°C (>100.8°F) or a temperature higher than a person’s known normal daily value [8]
I miss the days when I would go to MY DOCTOR, who had his OWN PRACTICE, and would listen to me, then listen to my chest, take my temp, pulse and weight.
Then based on THEIR EXPERIENCE, and THEIR intuition, they would make a diagnosis.
No looking at a computer screen, no computer or system wide "protocols" dictating to the DOCTOR what he or she may or may not do or say or prescribe.
Personally, I no longer trust any doctors, especially anything to do with the American VA Healthcare system.
I know, there are many great and caring people in that system, whose hands are tied by the VA 'protocols'.
So, knowing what might be causing your condition is more than half winning the battle.
The VA is one of the major causes of my ongoing issues with anger management and depression.
HIVE isn't helping one bit either, so this will be my last post.
Conflicts with Devs and Witnesses, with other users have left me with this drastic action.
Since 2017 when I joined Steemit, I've cashed out most of my savings several times. This will be my last.
There are quite a few of you I will miss. Some... not so much.
Always try to be helpful and cause no harm, and ALWAYS spread love my friends.
I will now proceed to empty my wallet, cash out, and as soon as I got my funds, close my account.
