Morning fellow CTP Talkers and Hivians,
*Made with canva
I want to start today talking about branding. One thing I have learned and has been pushed and beaten into my head in my years of being in affiliate marketing is branding. Your brand is yourself. Did you hear that? YOU are your brand. Remember that. It is important.
But I have learned a few things since COVID-19 came about, about how I want to represent my brand, another words myself. That leads to how have I been doing it in the past. I have tried to be politically correct and tried to please everyone, tried to appeal to the masses but with some of my writings and video blogs in the last couple of weeks that is coming to an end and today it stops.
I have gotten a clear vision of what my brand is and what kinda of people I want around me during and after this difficult time in the world. This may, and will narrow the people that are going to like me, stay with me and join me. And to tell you the truth I don't care.
First and fore most I have to stick with what is true to myself and like minded people will follow. Sound harsh? Maybe. But you don't see business like Nike going out and making cars and promoting cars as their brand when they make foot wear. Maybe that is a bad example, maybe not.
One thing I am very very thankful for is my CTP Talk, Click Track Profit community. They are helping me stay sane and stay the course during this times.
I am full of examples this morning. I did a video blog yesterday morning, calling out what I called "stupid people". It was in reference to COVID-19 non compliance with government laws and/or strong recommendations. It was pointed out to me by my good friend that I may have reduced my viewership because of it. And you know that is okay because of what I said above.
Our, mine and your, first priority should be looking after yourself and your family in these new times. Second priority should be your brand, your business, your online success.
I am going to give a little rant now on what I been calling "stupid people". I am putting quotes around those two words because I don't believe people are stupid, maybe ignorant and lacking respect for others but it feels and easy to say those two words.
People have a knack for picking and choosing bits of information that suits them in life. I am going to share a twitter exchange I had with two people last night. And of course I will not name names. I may be upset with the way some people in the world are lax about COVID-19 but I still got some sense left. lol
I was just searching for the tweet that started it all and I cannot find it. So I will try to explain. Myself and others on twitter were talking about the amount of traffic, people out driving on Sunday evening when they had a "make some noise" appreciation moment" for essential works. The idea was to go on your door step bang pots and pans, blow your vehicles horn. What ever to make noise. Well it worked big time and was fantastic. But news reports came out and in the back ground you could see car after car after car driving around people wanting to be out and about.
The reply basically was something like "I don't see the big deal if people are in their cars, they are not in public and isolated in their vehicle." So then the twitter exchange started. I said something like "well until they get a flat tire, in a fender bender, etc"
Response: "That can happen any day but like I said to someone else, if you think like that then the more time you spend at home increases your risk of of an accident at home. Trips, falls, burns, are more common than you may think. :)"
My response: ""You should try to stay home as much as possible.
If you do have to leave home for essentials such as groceries or medications, avoid crowds and maintain a distance of 2 arm lengths from other people. Try to go during off-peak hours." https://gov.nl.ca/covid-19/
It is not hard."
This was a long exchange am I am not going to share it all but this was the outcome.
"I read the post before you posted it. Nevertheless, I prefer to use my own brain and not always let every decision I make me made by someone else. No different being alone in your car than it is alone in your house. Sometimes common sense is enough."
But I will share a quote and link to our Governments press briefing yesterday.
"The health minister said shopping can no longer be a family activity, and must be kept to essential items only.
"One person, one trip, each week. Don't take your children with you unless there is really no alternative," he said.
"It's not the time to be out test driving cars."
Premier Dwight Ball added travelling should only be done for essential items and out of necessity.
"Don't just drive around to get out of your house," he said."

So, my take away from my twitter exchange yesterday? Some people think they know better!
Anyway, I hope this sparks some great replies, sparks a conversation here, you can agree with me, disagree with me. It does not matter. What matters, apparently, is that the conversation is still needed.
I can take harsh criticism if you think my post is to harsh. I don't mind.
I will sum up why I wrote this post and shared these things: BRANDING. I am my brand. And in this new world I am going to represent myself and call out people to help protect my family. If you agree with that fantastic. If not my branding is not for you. Simple.
