I pride myself on knowing a fair bit about marketing. This is why I put myself out there and created a professional blogging community for Hivers called Authority Bloggers.
As I was curious about Listnerds and had this new community to launch, I thought I would combine the two.
Perhaps I don't know as much as I thought.
What is Listnerds and why you should care
Listnerds (aff) is described as a "mailer" (though at this point I haven't received any emails), really it is a walled-garden message system where members send each other mail to promote their latest thing - an article, an offer, an opportunity, etc.
Unlike regular mailers, to send messages you need credits that can be purchased (what I did) or earned by opening messages from other users.
The cool part for Hive folks is it is now integrated into our fine blockchain right here, which means as well as the promotional benefit of getting more eyes on your stuff, you also have a way to boost your crypto gainz.
Why did you fail Chris??
Obviously, as you can see from the stats, I didn't completely fall on my arse as I did get clicks, and some people who joined my online marketing networking and education community said they heard about it from Listnerds (referral attribution is super important when doing new things!)
What I was appalled at is how bad my stats were compared to my regular email performance.

In my day job as a marketing director, those numbers from Listnerds would not play well ... let's just say I hope my boss never sees this.
So ... What did I do wrong?
As I mentioned in my recent article about the difficult truths of online marketing, you need your audience to know, like and trust you.
Nobody in the Listnerds community knows who I am!
They didn't opt-in to hear from me, I don't have name recognition, and I certainly didn't craft my message so it would stand out from the crowd.
Next Steps
I now know what I need to do, and I have my baseline, it is only up from here! (Hopefully!)
