Earth Hour was created by the World Wide Fund for Nature (W.W.F.) and is held annually, on the last Saturday of March.
The goal? To encourage individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights / electronics, for one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., as a commitment to the earth’s health.
Here is EarthHour.org’s invitation:
“Let’s come together to take care of each other and the one home we all share.”
What Can You Do?
- Switch off all non-essential appliances, devices and lights for an hour from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
- Eat a meat-free meal by candlelight.
- Download the My Footprint app.
- Go look at and enjoy the night sky.
- Take an evening walk with your family or a friend.
