I popped into The Peter Fidler Nature Reserve, on my way back from doing a bit of shopping. The reserve is a reclaimed coal mine site which has been transformed into a wetland habitat. The place is good for walking, birdwatching, cycling and horse riding and is dedicated to explorer Peter Fidler. I parked up in the free car park and followed the trail down to the lakes. As per usual, most of the pathway was quite firm and dry with muddy areas around the stiles.
There were a few footpath bridges to go over. The river was quite full with the rain and snow we've had recently.
After I got to the end of the footpath, I arrived at the lake. In the photo, to the right, there was a flock of Canada Geese grazing in the field. I could hear them honking before I spotted them.
On the way back, I found a geocache that was hidden at the bottom of a tree. There wasn't much in the tin, so I just signed the paper inside and left it for the next finder.
