Christmas has arrived on the Longshaw Estate where you can buy your Christmas trees and buy gifts. We just went for a walk though to see the autumn colours. I always have an artificial tree anyway. I don't really like the idea of a tree being cut down just for me.
The Peak District in Derbyshire is a popular place to go walking whatever time of the year, but you can't beat it in autumn when the leaves change their colours.
If you find lots of dry autumn leaves on the ground, I do recommend kicking them up in the air. It's not just for children. 🙂
It was a lovely clear day so you could see for miles. If you are a seasoned hiker, you can leave the estate and walk further afield.
It's funny because as a child, we used to look for conkers, acorns, chestnuts, and mushrooms. As an adult, I still do! Sometimes, I pick conkers and acorns up and put them in my pocket for no reason at all!
After you've done a nice walk there is a cafe on the estate. The only problem is that it gets crowded at weekends. They are a little slow as well, so it depends if you have lots of time to spare.
