As it was a nice day, I decided to head out for a walk and popped down to the Avenue Nature Reserve on the outskirts of my village. The weather was pleasant, after the downpour of rain, yesterday. Once I arrived, I took my time wandering along the footpaths.
While I was walking, I saw a magpie on the path. It then flew up and landed on a wooden fence nearby. It stayed there for a moment, before flying off.
Along the edges of the footpaths, there were lots of wildflowers growing. I saw red and white campion, which stood out in the grass. There were also meadow buttercups, bright yellow and swaying in the breeze.
The hawthorn blossom was out too, with small white flowers on the bushes which looked really pretty against the green.
The nature reserve has good open footpaths, grassland and a man made lake. The sky was lovely and blue over the water. Everything looked really bright and peaceful.
It's a good place for a circular walk if you want some quiet time outside. It is not too busy, and you can just enjoy spotting birds and wildflowers, depending on the season. I was hoping to spot a few butterflies, but I'm sure I will see some in the next few weeks.
