It’s late here, and I pushed through several temptations to just say “Fuck it!”, and go to bed. You’re all obligated to read on just because of that. 12:30a.m., and these homeschooling days are still cutting in to creative pursuits. is good 10 to 20 minutes, working independently. It’s not enough time to start something and make real progress, but it’s a long time to sit by thinking about what I’d like to be finishing. Once we did finish, he did give a 90 minutes of space to write.
Tonight, after went to bed, I did start working on some editing. New photos from Auckland, New Zealand with alt model and pinup for a day, Britt Vardy. When I announced my dates in Auckland, she was the first to book a dark pinup session. What was so cool about that, is that she wasn’t familiar with any of the pinups I’d worked with. She stumbled across my Instagram through my friend
, a tattoo artist. A completed different culture than rockabilly and pinup.
Miss Victory Violet was my partner during these New Zealand shoots and as Britt sat before her for hair and make-up, this young woman was transformed in to an Old Hollywood starlet. It was something to behold, and she was overwhelmed with emotion once she was finally shoot ready. The shoot itself was incredible. Shanghai Lil’s was constructed out of the set from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Britt just had it. The confidence, the focus and ability to take direction.
This is it for what I owe Britt Vardy. I’ll be sending these along to her as soon as I post this blog. Quite a relief. After tomorrow night’s post, I’ll be completely done with New Zealand, both in Auckland and Christchurch. I’ll have Australia to complete after that, but I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel that never would have come if it wasn’t for this forced isolation. I wish it wasn’t such grim circumstances, but I’ll take the silver linings where I can find them. Good night!
