For some, the cherry blossom season may be over and Queen Sakura may have already moved on. But if you look closely, you’ll quickly discover that she’s brought us another wonderful treat. Actually we should have known this would happen—after all, it’s been exactly the same in previous years, when we didn’t have time to mope either.
Now that the actual cherry trees have finished blooming, it’s time for the Yaezakura, a type of sakura whose blossoms are sometimes much more striking. From a distance, the Yaezakura trees glow in a deep shade of pink, and when you get up close, you suddenly find yourself standing before a luminous sea of fluffy blossoms that you just want to touch right away.
This year we discovered a few new trees, which of course I had to take some photos of. Cherry blossom season is peak season for every photographer, and that goes for me, too. But why not? It’s fun, it makes my heart beat faster, and it always puts a big smile on my face.

Für die einen mag die Kirschblüte nun vorbei sein und Königin Sakura bereits weitergezogen sein. Aber wenn man sich richtig umschaut, wird man schnell entdecken, dass sie uns noch einmal ein wundervollen Nachschlag mitgebracht hat. Und eigentlich hätte man es ja auch wissen können, war es doch in den Jahren zuvor ganz genau so gewesen, als wir zum Trübsalblasen auch keine Zeit hatten.
Jetzt, wo die eigentlich Kirschbäume abgeblüht sind, ist es nun Zeit für die Yaezakura, eine Sakuraart, deren Blüten viel auffälliger sind. Von weiten leuchten die Yaezakurabäume in einem tiefen Rosaton, und wenn man dann ganz nah rankommt, steht man plötzlich vor einem leuchtenden Meer aus puscheligen Blüten, die man am liebsten sofort anfassen will.
Wir hatten in diesem Jahr ein paar ganz neue Bäume entdeckt, von welchen ich natürlich ein paar Fotos machen musste. Sakurazeit ist für jeden Fotografen Hochsaison, und das gilt dann eben auch für mich. Doch warum auch nicht, es macht Spaß und lässt mein Herz schneller schlagen und bringt damit immer wieder ein großes Lächeln auf mein Gesicht.
But I know that even this spectacle will be over in a few days. And that’s why I take pleasure in every blossoming tree I see, and I love to stop and admire all the beautiful blossoms up close. This time of year is something special, and once again I’m right in the thick of it. And that’s where I’d love to stay forever...
Aber ich weiß, dass auch dieses Schauspiel in ein paar Tagen vorbei sein wird. Und deshalb erfreue ich mich einfach an jeden blühenden Baum, den ich sehe und bleibe dabei immer wieder gerne stehen und schaue mir all die herrlichen Blüten aus den Nähe an. Diese Zeit des Jahr ist was Besonderes, und ich bin mal wieder ganz nah dran und mittendrin. Und dort würde ich am liebsten für immer bleiben...
