(the view from my balcony in Visoko)
What's up Hive?
Let's see if I remember how to do this...
It's been a while since I posted, and since then, I have left Minneapolis and am now journeying through the Balkans. I am currently in Bosnia Herzegovina, and I hope to go to Serbia, depending on what it's like to cross the border.
My first month here, I spent in Visoko.
Visoko is the home of the Bosnian Pyramids, and adjoining tunnels, as well as the home of an ancient fortress, which was built on top of what is now called the Pyramid of the Sun.
I'm not going to try and tell the story of the pyramids, so if you want to know more about them, you can find out here.
On most days, I would walk across town to the tunnels(Ravne) that go underneath the pyramid. The walk to the Ravne was kind of a long one and good for my legs:)
I am claustrophobic, and it took several tunnel trips to be able to walk in them without freaking out. The tunnels were kind of a spiritual thing for me, so I didn't take any pictures, but I did take pictures of the park that they built outside the tunnels.
I also went to Stari Grad, and the ruins of the fortress that is on top of the Sun Pyramid.
(me and my friend Haris at the fortress on top of the pyramid)
During my time there, I really got to love Visoko. The people there are so cool, and I made many friends there.
Truly, I initially stayed in Visoko because of this song...
I wanted to be able to say "bio sam u Visoko" and now I can:)
I do plan to go back to Visoko before I go back to America(if I go back to America) so I can visit the awesome people I met there.
