I am favourstrings and today I will be singing a song cover by dusin oyenka with the song title no throne without the cross.

Some songs are beautiful. Others are necessary. No Throne Without the Cross by Dunsin Oyekan is necessary for me. It’s the song that pulls me out of casual worship and plants me at Calvary again.
I didn’t grow up with crowns and glory talk. I grew up knowing struggle. So when Dunsin sings, “No throne without the cross, there’s no sacrifice without the blood,” it hits different. It reminds me that every level, every victory, every door God opens sits on the foundation of what Jesus already bled for. I can’t skip the cross and expect the crown. I can’t want the throne and reject the nails. That line kills entitlement in me. It keeps me sober.
But the part that breaks me every single time is: “All this You did for me, no me without You.”
That’s it. That’s the whole gospel in one breath. I have nothing without Him. No voice, no breath, no future. All this — the grace, the mercy, the access — He did for me. And the moment I think I’m something apart from Him, I’m lying to myself. That line brings me to my knees. It’s my daily reset. No me without You.
The song doesn’t let me clap and dance alone. It makes me bow. It makes me remember Gethsemane before I celebrate Pentecost. It’s worship with weight.
#HMF — Hive Music Festival — is where we bring our most honest selves. Week after week, I’ve watched people here sing through tears, through pain, through testimony. It’s not about perfection; it’s about presence. And that’s exactly what No Throne Without the Cross demands: presence.
I want to do this cover in #HMF because this community understands sacrifice. Many of us create when we’re tired, record when data is low, show up when life is heavy. We know what it means to carry a cross before we wear a crown. So singing this song here feels like coming home.
My cover won’t be vocal gymnastics. It’ll be surrender. I want us to remember together that our platforms, our gifts, our very lives on Hive — they all exist because of the Blood. If my voice shakes while I sing “no me without You,” good. It should. Because it’s true.
I’m bringing this song to #HMF Week 185 not to impress, but to confess. To remind myself and anyone listening: we reign because He bled. We have thrones because He chose the cross.
