The malojillo Cymbopogon citratus (Gramineae) is a medicinal plant as many names in particular for example lemon grass, lemon grass, sweet straw etc, as that will depend on the country in which we are. This plant is used in various ways to soothe ailments or diseases, and is that we can not only use it in infusions, as we can dry it and extract its natural essences. In addition, its natural oil can be used as an antibacterial.
This herbaceous plant is native to Malaysia and India, but nowadays it is cultivated and spread all over the tropical and subtropical zones of the planet.
The constituents of this plant are geraniol and citronellol and are highly active as fungicides and bactericides.
The vitamins present in this medicinal plant are; vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, folic acid, manganese, iron, potassium, calcium among others.
The tea of this medicinal plant is very effective to cure the flu because it has many favorable properties for our body.
Among the benefits that we can find in the tea of malojillo are the following
1-Has properties that serve as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, and consequently helps against headaches, muscle and menstrual pain.
2-Serves as a diuretic and helps with the elimination of toxic waste from the body.
3-It is an excellent ally to alleviate the symptoms of flu and asthma disorders.
4-It can be used as a digestive and helps prevent gastric ulcers.
5-This medicinal plant also works as a soothing or relaxing and helps to combat nervousness, vertigo and other neurological disorders.
6-For the skin is a very effective ally, since with its antimicrobial properties is very effective in dermatological infections. For this it is necessary to apply it as a tonic, in oily and acne-prone skin.
7-With lukewarm water to disinflate the feet and disinfect them.
8-Out of what has to do with the theme of health also serves as a natural insect repellent.
To enjoy all the benefits of this medicinal plant in tea, just add 1 teaspoon of chopped malojillo leaves in a cup and put boiling water, then let it brew and then drink it.
To make compresses and relieve any sore region we must make the tea and immerse the compress to place in the affected area.
To lose weight you need to drink this tea at least 4 to 5 times a day.
Side Effects
In excess can cause dizziness, acidity in the mouth and low blood pressure, as consequences that can cause fainting. For such circumstance it is recommended to ingest the tea in moderation. On the other hand, when it is applied on the skin, it is necessary to wash the area before exposing to the sun to avoid burns.
