As I pondered my grateful place for Rivers which Flow, I instantly felt the gentle rhythms of the Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore:
The founder of 's
community is like that: a humble, Aussie chick, self effacing and somewhat shy, constantly seeing the vast lake underneath the lotus leaf and the potential in the murk below.
She has a thing for lotus, our . Got so gung-ho about silty-muddy bottoms and blossoming as we evolve that she even made her own token: Natural Medicine's Lotus token, now available on Hive.
But I digress from my thoughts of Rivers.
Rivers which flow smooth rough edges, carving new gorges through even the roughest stone;
Rivers which flow collect tiny traces from wherever they've touched and carry them downstream to create a fertile valley which nourishes and feeds many;
Rivers which flow can ebb sometimes in the dry season, revealing lovely smooth flat stones where others can languish and take their rest;
Rivers which flow can rage sometimes, and cut through in full flood what it would take others many seasons to shift;
Rivers which flow cool and refresh people when they've walked far through rough terrain, and are in need of refilling;
Rivers which flow bring life to the reeds and the weeds, and to the weeping willow, whose roots are drawn to her;
Rivers which flow carry people, and release them without question to other places when their journey is done;
Rivers which flow are the connectors - between the shimmer of the dew, the steamy breath of the grass, the wispy clouds, the heavy brewing storm and the deluge which is drawn through her to replenish the sea;
Our "Rivers" has - and is - all of those things to a growing wellness and natural health community on Hive. She's seemingly endless, like a river, only we know even the longest drought can exhaust a river till it dribbles along from one fetid pool to another. We saw something of that recently as she bravely sat in a hotel room in India with Covid quarantine looming as the steem blockchain was hijacked.
And now our "Rivers" is resting in the United Kingdom, impatiently waiting it out, her long-planned for year of travel in tatters. The river blessing of Mother Ganga in India - one of her final stops before the last flight out before lockdown - has borne fruit, and those who rely on her flow are grateful that our "Rivers" is beginning to fill and swell again.
The beautiful thing about rivers is they flow easily with and toward others, to create something stronger, wider and more powerful. And so it is. Our "Rivers" is empowering the team to step up and share leadership; she's released much of her "it's my baby" ego - tossed it to the river with wild abandon.
And so the river flows, the community grows and we pause. To look at the river and all she means to us. To admire how far she's traveled and how wide and strong her flow has become. To give thanks for all that she nourishes and inspires.
We're grateful for her, our . In all her moods and seasons.

We want to pause on this, Day 1 of our Natural Medicine Positive Vibes Week to honour her leadership and all that she is to the natural medicine crew, to Hive and to the many people who call her a friend, mentor and sister.
I leave you again with the beautiful words of Tagore:
"The roots below the earth claim no rewards for making the branches fruitful." Rabindranath Tagore.
And so it is with our , and we are endlessly grateful for her.
