This can look like a blunt question but that is not the exact question I wanted to ask. I actually wanted to ask how much water do you drink every day also share some personal opinions on this topic. Our modern science defines that water is the most essential thing for a human being alongside food. Over 75 percent of the body is made out of water. So impressive isn't it. But how much water do you need in a day?
Before going to that part let me describe myself. I'm someone who doesn't drink enough water every day. I drink water only when my body asks for it. Without asking, I will not force water into my body. I can go without water for days or even months. I have done that before especially during the winter season where there will be lots of humidity in the air. I will not feel like drinking water at all and I won't drink water. But when I say that, I do drink lots of water during the summer season when there is a need. When my body asks for it, I drink lots of water to quench the thirst.
I feel that we have a natural phenomenon in our body called thirst that will let us know when we need water. We shouldn't force water into our system when it is not required. I say this because I have seen many people saying that we should need 6 and 7 liters of water every day and even if we don't feel thirsty, we should keep it as a practice to drink enough water every single day. I have a colleague in my office who strictly follows that advice.
She brings a big two-liter bottle to the office. She is also very slim but if you look at the way she drinks water, you will not believe that she is slim and she can drink that much water. I guess she drinks over 6 to 7 liters of water every single day. After having her lunch she will drink almost 1 liter of water and after that regularly in intervals. I guess she was severely advised to drink water by someone and she strictly follows it irrespective of the fact that she needs water or not.
Here I would like to share some of my thoughts. I think that it is so wrong to force our bodies with food and water. I have a principle in life that I will give food and water to the body only when there is a need for it or when I have the sensation. Without a need, I will not force both foods as well as water into my body. Coming back to the water topic, I feel that there are multiple ways in which we get water into our bodies.
Most of you might agree with me that drinking water directly is not the only water source for our body. A part of the water is taken to the body in the form of liquid food that we consume. Next is the air we breathe. Especially during the winter season, I always feel that our body is capable of taking the necessary water just from the atmosphere itself. Additionally, if it is summer where humidity is very low, our body will starve and it will automatically ask for water and that is the right time to give it some water.
There are also other reasons why we shouldn't be drinking too much water every day. Our modern science says that too much water creates unnecessary stress on the kidneys and make them do overwork. It is also said that too much water can liquidate the blood creating other consequences. You can refer to several other online materials to read more about the harmful effects of drinking too much water.
To conclude, the above is all my opinion on this topic and I have heard different opinions on this topic from my friends on colleagues as well. But today I just wanted to share my thoughts on this. I'm not saying that we shouldn't be drinking water at all. I'm just trying to say that too much water is not good for the body and we don't have to force a habit to drink a definite quantity of water every single day. This is not health advice but just my humble opinion. Feel free to disagree.
