I just came back from a short walk with the dogs because duty calls both in work and school again after the 4 days off for Easter. And i see them everywhere: Dandelions, yellow flowers in the grass fields in our neighbourhood.
At least 250 different types of dandelions are known. In herbal medicine, they all have a medicinal effect and leaves, but especially roots, are used for digestion and liver disorders. In addition to Europe, the dandelion originates in Africa and Asia. Man has spread the dandelion on other continents.
Dandelion also used as a food coloring. As mentioned earlier, Dandelions adapt easily to a variety of conditions, however they are most common in regions with a sunny climate and well-drained soil. Dandelions in your lawn. When Dandelions invade your lawn, you may have a hard time getting rid of it as they just keep coming back. While other weeds will simply die if you run the lawnmower over them, Dandelions are not affected, as the leaves grow very close to the ground and are out of reach of the lawnmower.
The way in which Dandelions spread is also very interesting. When the flower has finished flowering, a white bulb is created consisting of fluff with seeds. The wind transports the seeds from one place to another, because the fluff serves as a kind of parachute. This does not mean the Dandelion from North America, has blown over to Europe. The Dandelion ended up in Europe by European settlers, who took the plant with them for their medicinal and culinary properties. The Dandelion has the longest growing season compared to various plants in the world. Dandelions can easily grow in very poor soil. Unlike many other plants, they have no competition from slow-growing plants around them. The Dandelion even inhibits the growth of these plants, because its long leaves prevent the sunlight, which is necessary for the growth of these plants, from reaching the ground.
The name dandelion has to do with the preference that horses have for this plant. Rabbits and other animals also love it. Goat and sheep use the dandelion as a medicine. The rabbits, deer and squirrels feed on different parts of this plant. Birds, such as ducks and geese, also feed on their flowers and seeds. The fruit fluff that are pulled loose by the wind and can then cover large distances as parachutes is what I find interesting! Very nice to photograph. This is a soda I found, and it’s goooooddd!
These books are from my bookcase and had some interesting dandelion info in them too, that is something i try to look up when i have a new idea for a blog, although I have written about this before on steem in another blog.
