These days, most of us are subject to some variation of quarantine, stay-it-home mandates and other restrictions on movement. Meanwhile, we are dealing with an onslaught of (mostly) fear driven news, rumors, misinformation and other "stuff" that adds stress to our lives.
The more social among us are probably also going a little stir crazy because of the whole "Social Distancing" thing.
Of course, some places have extremely strict controls, but in many places, people are still allowed to at least go outside, to do things like exercise or ride their bicycles.
That means we still have access to one of the greatest "Healers" on the planet: Nature, itself!
Many people's lives in 2020 tend to be so busy that we overlook this amazing resource. Or maybe we are aware that we really "should" get out in green space more, but we declare that we'll do it "later" because we have "too much to do."
Even when I was a teenager, I used to half-jokingly tell people that "Nature is my church" because I somehow sensed that I could find a measure of peace there... in an otherwise chaotic upbringing.
For starters, there's something extremely soothing about the color green. Which means — silly as it may sound — that even if you can't get outside at the moment, even spending time just looking at your houseplants, or plants you might be growing on your apartment balcony, does help.
I've always found it best to just leave the "technology" completely at home. The world will survive if people can't get hold of you for 20 minutes; YOU will survive if you don't get the latest social media message for 20 minutes.
The whole point is to disconnect from the chaos; from the "noise;" from the news and the fake rumors. The healing comes in actually taking the time to unplug and just be in a state of quiet for a few minutes. Even just ten minutes is helpful!
And yes, I know most people who read this probably already know the truth of what I am saying... but are you actually DOING anything about it?
Lately, I have been working on our garden for many hours a day... and leaving my phone inside the house... and I feel much better for doing so.
So... take a "break" from it all, when you can! Meanwhile, enjoy the photos of the bunnies that visit our back yard, all the time!
Thanks for reading, and stay safe!
