A very close loved one was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2019. Having undergone surgery and chemotherapy it seemed the cancer was in remission. My loved one really struggled with chemotherapy unfortunately but luckily recovered.
While undergoing chemotherapy, they felt extremely ill with symptoms of extreme fatigue, vomiting, extreme loss of appetite. In 2022 they learned the cancer had moved elsewhere and were diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They had surgery performed to remove their ovaries in response where the cancer had reignited. They also learned they would have to undergo chemotherapy once again.
They tried chemotherapy however, unable to tolerate any more chemotherapy, they asked for any alternative treatments. Sadly the only alternative is ‘watch and wait’, waiting with no treatment and watching how it plays out. My loved one decided to take this course of action, or lack there of. They were given months to live in June.
They feel that if they don’t have long left to live, they would rather be comfortable than live it out in pain and being sick on a possibility of succeeding through chemotherapy their fight against cancer. I support their decision. On their being diagnosed with cancer, a couple of us looked into the various supplement remedies which had been mentioned and documented on the internet as we want our loved one to do well.
These are not necessarily recommended while undergoing conventional cancer treatment. Despite having an aggressive form of cancer my loved one actually feels okay and generally healthy. It was the treatment of chemotherapy which made them very ill.
This makes sense as chemotherapy is a poison and along with intending on killing the cancer cells, it kills the healthy cells too, thereby destroying the immune system.
They have been taking these supplements for 5 weeks now and has been off chemotherapy now for 15 weeks.
What we got and why:
Aspirin: 75mg coated aspirin (coated is apparently kinder on the stomach). It is claimed after age 35-40 75mg coated aspirin helps prevent many illnesses. It can sometimes cause stomach or nose bleeds as it thins the blood. This comes from the book called ‘An Aspirin A Day. The Wonder Drug That Could Save Your Life.’ by Dr Keith Souter.
Omega 3: Omega 3 fatty acids exert anti-inflammatory affects and could play a role in cancer treatments

Omega 7: Omega 7 fatty acids has been claimed to help gastrointestinal health

Neem leaf supplements: Neem is the dominant natural ingredient occurring in the now controversial Ivermectin. Ivermectin as with neem leaf is anti-parasitic. Since COVID-19, Ivermectin has been banned in many countries however, neem leaf is likely readily available everywhere.
Due to the controversy of Ivermectin my loved one was concerned about taking neem. I had taken neem throughout COVID and have not been ill. I also sent plenty of cancer related medical research documents although not cancer specific to themselves. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16378700/ and also an ivermectin related study
Neem leaf is an ancient remedy which contains anti-ageing and protective antioxidants such as quercetin and nimbolide both of which protect against damaging free radicals. The nimbolide and azadirachtin components are thought to be responsible for many of neem’s cancer-fighting properties. It has the ability to induce cell death, inhibit cell proliferation, and boost your immune response against tumour cells. Research has show that neem may also help anticancer drugs to work more effectively.
Neem has not been recommended as a conventional treatment. However, for those who struggle on these conventional treatments, like my loved one, then neem may help them with an alternative route to wellness and comfort.
Moringa leaf tablets: As with neem leaf, moringa too is an antiparasitic supplement. It is anti-inflammatory and helps relieve any pain. There are also studies suggesting it may aid with the treatments of certain types of cancer
here is an article about moringa. https://www.medicalsnewtoday.com/moringa-the-perfect-supportive-treatment-for-cancer
Hemp oil: Hemp oil is useful for helping to relieve any pain and also may aid in increasing the appetite. Hemp oil also contains the healthy fatty acids omega 3 and omega 7. Hemp seed oil is not the same as cannabidiol (CBD) oil which is recommended by some to treat cancer. However, I am unable to access the latter.
My loved one has been taking this cocktail of supplements for five weeks now. After four weeks on this cocktail, they spoke of feeling more energetic and no longer requiring an afternoon nap. Whether this is down to the supplements or simply having time to recover from the last batch of chemotherapy, we will never know.
However, my loved one did attend an oncologist appointment last week. The oncologist asked if any symptoms had recurred and my loved one responded with “No!”. No more chemotherapy has been prescribed. An appointment has been made for a CT scan early October where they will discuss the results of that scan late October. And I will report back with the findings then.
I am not suggesting this is the secret cure for cancer, however, not everyone can tolerate the prescribed treatments and not everyone has a doctor. And therefore under such circumstances it may be an alternative route to take in their fight against cancer or symptoms which may occur. My loved one has been given months to live. I wanted to help them live out those months comfortably and with joy.
I am hoping and praying my loved one will continue on their strengthening process throughout September into October and the months and years ahead. I am also hoping and praying that the results will be positive for my loved one. Although this is only one persons experience and far from any legitimate scientific research, I do believe this might be an interesting post for those who are or have struggled with conventional treatment and also wish to take the wait and watch route in their fight against cancer.
Making such a decision to take this course of action, or lack there of as it may be, I am sure is very frightening as it goes against all the scientific research and recommendations. I am not sure whether my loved one will recover fully, I pray they do, otherwise they have a limited time left with us. But I think they have taken an extremely brave path in declining the recommended treatment.
And any pain and suffering they may endure from such a path, however they do not seem to be facing either right now, will not be wasted as their journey of fighting against cancer using supplements will be recorded here for others to read.
