Maracay is a city with a great diversity of tree species, one of these species is Enterolobium cyclocarpum.

Enterolobium Cyclocarpum
The Enterolobium cyclocarpum is a huge tree belonging to the Fabaceae family, this beautiful tree belongs to the Fabales order, this tree is also known as Elephant's Ear or Caro Hembra.
This huge tree can easily be mistaken for a Saman tree because of the shape of its crown and size, it can reach almost 50 metres in height, its trunk can be as wide as it needs to be and its roots form enormous membranes as if they were branches coming out of the ground.
This beautiful tree has and counts on a fruit legumbre with circular helicoidal form, the fruit comes wrapped inside a sheath that protects it of the possible natural predators, the seed is extremely hard, this is to take care and to protect to the embryo that is inside her waiting to touch earth and to wait the opportune moment to form a new life.
The reproductive cycle of these trees is quite interesting and striking, just like the flamboyant tree, they reproduce asexually and the seed contains a living embryo waiting for optimal conditions to develop and generate a new seedling.
This beautiful specimen which I present in this publication is in the vicinity of my house, this beautiful tree extends in its crown by a quite wide space offering to the passers-by, walkers and sportsman good shade and a spectacular game of shades.
The flowers of this beautiful specimen are extremely showy and decorative, they are small and white, they are like small hairs that come out from the heart or base of the flower, these flowers are very attractive to birds, hummingbirds and bees.
Carocaro seed and germination
The seeds of the CaroCaro "Enterolobium cyclocarpum" usually take between three to four weeks to germinate, during this period the embryo will develop until it pierces through its own shell, we can also make the seed germinate with assistance, this will advance the development cycle of the embryo and stimulate it to pierce through the shell of the seed husk, to stimulate the embryo we will immerse the seed in boiling water for a period of one minute at most, try not to be longer to avoid killing the embryo, after this immediately we return to immerse the seed in cold water for two or three minutes (can be the time you want).
En una maceta o directamente en la tierra abrimos un hoyo de uno a dos centímetros de la superficies e introducimos a la semilla, esto hará que en menos de dos semanas el embrión se desarrolle y de comienzo a una nueva forma de vida.

Los Carocaro ya comenzaron a florecer

Enterolobium Cyclocarpum
El Enterolobium cyclocarpum es un enorme árbol perteneciente a la familia de los Fabaceae, este bello árbol pertenece al orden de los Fabales, este árbol es también conocido como Oreja de Elefante o Caro Hembra.
Este enorme árbol se puede confundir fácilmente con un Samán por la forma de su copa y tamaño, pueden alcanzar los casi 50 metros de altura, su tronco puede ser tan ancho como el lo requiera y sus raíces van formando enormes membranas en como si fueran ramas saliendo de la tierra.
Este hermoso árbol tiene y cuenta con un fruto legumbre con forma circular helicoidal, el fruto viene envuelto dentro de una vaina que lo protege de los posibles depredadores naturales, la semilla es sumamente dura, esto es para cuidar y proteger al embrión que está dentro de ella esperando tocar tierra y esperar el momento oportuno para formar una nueva vida.
El ciclo reproductivo de estos árboles es bastante interesante y llamativo, al igual que el árbol flamboyant, estos se reproducen asexualmente y la semilla contiene un embrión vivo en espera de condiciones óptimas para desarrollarse y generar una nueva plántula.
Este bello ejemplar el cual les presento en esta publicación se encuentra en las cercanías de mi casa, este bello árbol se extiende en su copa por un espacio bastante amplio brindando a los transeúntes, caminantes y deportista buena sombra y un espectacular juego de sombras.
Las flores de este bello ejemplar son sumamente llamativas y decorativas, son pequeñas y blancas, son como pequeño pelitos que salen desde el corazón o base de la flor, estas flores son muy atractivas ante las aves, colibríes y abejas.
La Semilla y germinación del Carocaro
Las semillas del CaroCaro "Enterolobium cyclocarpum" suelen tarde entre tres a cuatro semanas para germinar, durante este período el embrión va desarrollándose hasta perforar por sí mismo la corteza del caparazón que lo recubre, también podemos hacer que la semilla germine con asistencia, esto adelantará el ciclo de desarrollo del embrión y lo estimulará a que perfora la corteza del caparazón de la cáscara de la semilla, para estimular al embrión vamos a sumergir la semilla en agua hirviendo durante un período de un minuto como máximo, procurar no sea más tiempo para evitar matar al embrión, luego de esto de manera inmediata volvemos a sumergir a la semilla en agua bien fría, durante dos o tres minutos (puede ser el tiempo que desees).
En una maceta o directamente en la tierra abrimos un hoyo de uno a dos centímetros de la superficies e introducimos a la semilla, esto hará que en menos de dos semanas el embrión se desarrolle y de comienzo a una nueva forma de vida.
