Today a garden mishap happened.....
A mishap could happen any day at anytime and that is what I experienced today. We went to our old place to water the plants in the garden and to pick-up some things left behind after the move. I was clearing old pots and cut some of the dried branches and blooms from the rose bush.
In the course of the garden work, I happened to overlook the metal fence that surrounds the peonies. It is a low fence used mainly for decorating the borders between soil and tiles. I was holding a ceramic vase and stepped-backward to go back to the door..... when suddenly, in split-seconds I fell down while holding the vase. It was a Crash and the vase split into hundreds of pieces, a sharp part hitting my elbow cutting my skin and the another one hitting my ankle. I moaned as my chest and breast hit the tiles first. It was a sudden fall that I thought I broke a rib. My concern had been the rib. Thank God that was not the case. Blood ran down my arm although the cut was not deep, had the cut disinfected and a plaster put in place.
It was already planned that I would gather goldenrod or ragweed today since they are already blooming at this time of the year. In German, it is called Beifuß Ambrosie. It is a highly allergenic plant that is bad for those suffering/allergic to pollen. In some areas in Germany, they even ask the locals to report to the local environmental admins thru mails whenever they spot any of this plant growing.
It seems that the state admins are preventing this plant to spread throughout because they are not only bad particularly for the kids but also to the farmers. They could ruin the harvest of any crops. In short, the plant is unwanted by the farmers!
Wildflower arrangement began as a hobby when I walked my first rottie named Ako. And since the area where we used to live is near the farmland (in the outskirts but still part of the city).. wildflowers were in abundance. So every time, I walked the dog, I had wildflower arrangement every three days. Below is a sample of one of my arrangements in the past.
So today, I had the urge to go and get some goldenrod/ragweed in the nearby field and so even more after the garden mishap to forget the chest pain. Funnily, I am allergic to dust but I never had any problem with these flowers. At least, I accomplished something positive by arranging these flowers for my well-being... the pain will surely be gone anytime soon, I hope!
