It was a bit of a shock that her untimely death of Lily, the chihuahua princess we were fostering since almost 6 years, she was 9 years old. She had been left to us by my mom-in law who was ill of Alzheimer. She was admitted to a special clinic and Lily stayed with us ever since until about two and a half weeks ago.
Why Natural Medicine?
Animals in general are part of my natural medicine because they make me happy. This is also one reason why dogs are also brought to the patients in hospitals. I think everyone who has a dog or who loves animals could relate to this, dogs are a man´s true friend and they are very loyal to their owner. If we feel worried or ill, they comfort us. My rottweiler Ako (60 kilos)of 14 years was a very lovable rottie. I once got fever at 41°C and had been bedridden, Ako was worried so he simply jumped-up on my bed, licked my face and laid beside me and waited til the doc and the ambulance arrived. That was his way of saying that he will look after me.
What happened to Lily...
On May 22, the day after my birthday, I went food shopping and my husband called-up to say that Lily died some minutes ago. I hurried home shocked at the news and there I found her lifeless body on the sofa at home. I cuddled her only to find the real truth that she was really gone.
My husband walked her outside at the pathway intended for dog walks...it is not so far away from our house. In the course of their walk....Lily sacked her body and face on the ground and did not move. My husband called her but she did not move. So he picked-her up quickly and noticed that her eyes were wide open, so he shook and shook her only to find no reactions. She had been ok when they went out of the house, sniffing the pathway like any dog would. There was no hint whatsoever that something was wrong with her.
She did not have breathing problems except that she was sneezing sometimes. A month ago I brought her to the vet to have a tooth extraction and I mentioned the doc that she sometimes she´d have a peculiar seizure similar to an epileptic patient. She would simply laid on her back with legs up and
if that happened I simply took her in my arms and tap her breast and back and she would be ok after some seconds. The vet said she had to undergo heart examination and ultrasound but that didn´t happened anymore. We think that Lily had a heart attack or stroke, reason why she collapsed and died. We brought her to the vet for safekeeping in their cool room until cremation. She was finally cremated last Tuesday (June 2) and we brought her urn at home to rest in peace.
After the death of our rottie, we said that we won´t have a dog in the future, 8 years later, we fostered Lily because we didn´t want her to suffer in the animal rescue center. Thank God that she still enjoyed her years with us. We are so devastated til now..... but promised ourselves that we will be adopting an older rescue dog say of 5 years old, pamper that dog and let it enjoy the rest of its years.
