I grew up knowing the black seed, not surprising though because i stayed with my dad while growing up and this is one of the herbal medicines he cant do without just like his bottles of schnapps.
I remember when i throw out his seeds🙄, it was pretty expensive to get then, like really expensive since then he's been hiding it away from my reach.
As a young boy then, i remember i do ask my dad to tell me more about this so called black seed, for me the only thing i know was that the seed is black and then it got its name from here. I remember my dad used to give his brother who's suffering from asthma to chew.
I grew up and made more research about the black seed, i grew up knowing the seed but then recently i get to see it in powdered form.
Firstly, black seed doesnt grow in Nigeria at the same time there has been no record of it grown in Nigeria, so it has been imported from overseas mostly asia, middle east and north africa.
I remember then when people goto saudi arabia for the annual pilgrimage they come back with these seed. Its like buying gold for someone because only a few understands its worth, but now its relatively easier to get as people now involved in massive importation of the seeds.
Its of numerous importance, same it was many decades ago.
Most notably, taking black seed extracts improves coughing and sneeze thereby adviced to be taken by asthmatic patients, so also its powdered form improves blood pressure.
And later some researchers have suggested that taking black seed oil can help improve skin conditions.
Preparations:
Black seed has no special preparations pér say, mostly the seed is chewed and its highly medicinal, it does aids digestion, to be chewed first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach preferably.
Other special preparations include blending the seed into fine particles and then with its oil, there are black seed oil and then add honey, it improves fertility in women mostly.
Any which way you want it, black seed is good for all dated as far back and till now same as cumin seed. For all ages, just like ginger,garlic and your turmeric, black seeds also should be a household herbs.
