We're in the 21st century and its rather amasing seeing the medicine evolving, the herbs and natural medicine especially has been undervalued in recent times due to invention of industrial drugs.
For someone like me my grand parents her herbalist, an average african man or woman one way or the other relies on herbs.
I dare to say that orthodox Method of healing is still the best, people of old made researches as to the health benefits of some of these herbs and it yielded a massive positive results. The ginger, garlic, turmeric, black seed, cum seed, are rich natural medicines herbs.
Usually i do stock up my home with all these herbs but due to my engagements recently in the garden, I've been left with none, until yesterday when i went round the town and i was impressed to get every herbs i'd wanted.
The cumin seed is one of the popular herbs, but mostly it is difficult to get in the market unless we place a special order, but it seems the rate at which people embraces herbs has drastically improved in recent times.
The garlic and the ginger are mostly use for dishes, and this is a more reason i cant do without having it at home.
- I visited 'Oja oba' in ilorin kwara state of Nigeria, not just to buy but for a market survey, the men from the far north usually brought these to the market because most of these herbs only grow in the north.
They brought all these herbs in bags and in large quantities, according to the mallam who sells he said people now tend to buy more and realise the importance of natural medicines.
A full bag of garlic is sold for about 20,000 (naira) thats about $50 same as ginger while for those who can not afford the bag, can get some packed inside the nylon.
cumin seed and the black seed are relatively difficult according to the seller so they are packed inside a container and a container.
There are also many more herbs at the store, which i can't buy all. The seller claims that he do bring all these items to the market everyday and hes happy to make his daily income of the sales.
- So let me know where and how often do you get your herbs. Which is your favorite, like a must used in a day.
