@Naturalmedicine came up with a simple side challenge to the main Build It Challenge
The Medicine Cabinet Challenge details here
All you need to do is show your natural medicine "cabinet" in whatever form it is!
In my actual medicine cabinet above the sink I don't have any real medicines there. It's in my pantry I have a corner of a shelf stocked with different essential oils and some Chinese Medicine from my sister who is a Doctor in Chinese Medicine.
Most of these are from my prepper days where I felt I should not only have a good supply of food stuff but also some medicinal things i would use. Also our local health food store was closing down and selling off all there stock at very low prices so I stocked up!
Here you will find
- oil of oregano which I use for sore throats or when I have a cold.
- silver bullet which is mainly colloidal silver which I use on sore throats infections in the mouth or throat or topically for cleaning open wounds or infected areas.
- Wintergreen since I love the smell and would use for homemade toothpastes and such.
- spagyric tinture of cloves from
's store at Homesteaderscoop I also have his spagyric tincture of myrrh and also garlic (which is in the fridge) this I've used for sore gums and it works wonderfully!
- theives oil which I love the smell of and have it in a diffuser in my bathroom (supposedly to protect against molds) and also on my pouch of activated charcoal that i have hanging by my bed.
- camphor oil which I use on cold soars - clears them up very quickly when nothing else seems to work. I haven't had a cold sore in a real long time so I haven't used much of it.
- eucalyptus oil that I use when I'm stuffed up with a cold to clear my nasal passage. This is another one that i just love the smell of and may also put a few drops in bathwater again to open the airways.
- miracle oil which is a healing formula with hemp oil, tea tree, Vitamin E and 6 other oils I use on an area of dry skin or sun damaged skin
- raw shredded Chaga which I make up a decotion of to build the immune system
JJ on Soap Box in the Dark Pantry Where I Keep My Infusion Projects (this one is chickweed)
It is cool and dark in the pantry so I keep my infusion products in there and some apple cider vinegar I use for my tonic.
Oils and Creams Kept in Fridge
- arnica cream I use to clear up bruising
- Garlic tincture is an immune boaster and I use it if I'm getting a cold
- MSM Aloe gel I use on cuts and scrapes or burns if I don't have a Aloe Vera pant close by to use the gel directly from the leaf
- iodine has antiseptic for cuts and scraps
Wellness Formula and Nine Flavor Tea ( a Chinese Medicine) Kept in the Fridge
In the fridge on the door I keep a few creams and such along with some Chinese Medicine (Nine Flavor Tea) my sister sent for my husband who has night sweats, and a Wellness formula I take whenever things seem to be getting off balance especially at any signs of a cold.
Look at the Ingredients in the Wellness Formula.
I do have other dried herbs but they are in the cupboard with my teas or in the root cellar still in their bags. I'm big on Stinging nettle for it's nutrient dense and if you are anemic it has lots of available iron. I have corn silk for urinary infections, alfalfa again for it's nutrients great as a tea (I like it with mint to add flavor to it) for making strong teeth and bones with the calcium in it. Peppermint for upset stomachs.
That's the bulk of what I have but mostly I use food as medicine, a good preventative medicine!
