Do you mean that when you choose yourself, people begin putting themselves first or do you mean that people start taking you and your needs into account? Because both options can occur. When it's the first then I say that those people are then not meant to be in your life. It sucks though, especially if those are loved ones and/or family. But if people really value you and your needs and accept your boundaries, then those are truly people to cherish in your life. I've had both experiences and have dealt with it accordingly.
