I have tried a lot of different kind of wines. Mostly at parties, but I always order a glass (or five) when Im eating out. There is nothing better than a great wine to amazing food. It makes the whole meal much better.
In Norway we have something called VINMONOPOL. It's a government-owned wine monopoly. The owners chose the best wines and don't sell anything of bad quality. One friend of mine told me a story about an Italian wine producer who always wanted to get his wine in to the Norwegian VINMONOPOL. It took him 10 years to finally got accepted of the wine monopoly, and he knew he finally had made a great wine and it was such an honor. He knew he would be much more popular and make good money out of it.
Vinmonopolet (English: The Wine Monopoly), symbolized by Ⓥ and colloquially shortened to Polet, is a government-owned alcoholic beverage retailer and the only company allowed to sell beverages containing an alcohol content higher than 4.75% in Norway. Source: Wikipedia
Vinmonopolet have once a year a Burgundy release
where people from all over the world is sleeping outside up for three weeks to a month before the release to get the best burgundy wine. Those wines costs A LOT, but they will get a lot more if they store it and sell it later.
I'm not that fancy at it. But I have learned enough to find my favorite wines.
I drink mostly white: Kruger Rumpf is my absolutley one favorite. A german producer, from Mosel north in Germany. My ultimate favorite is Kruger Rumpf Im Pittersberg.
I also want to recommend Nic Weis St. Urban Hof. I have tried Urban Riesling and Estate Riesling (From Old Vines) 2016 from the same producer. It's made in Mosel in Germany too.
Julian Haart - Mosel Riseling 2020 is also highly recommended. It's GERMAN, and from MOSEL too. Hahaha. I guess wines from Mosel are my thing. I have to go there one day... getting drunk 😂
One of our local Italian restaurants have the most amazing wine cellar I have seen. It's not actually cellar, but it's a glasshouse in the middle of the restaurant.
One time, the waiter saw that I was really interesed in the wine "cellar", and he asked if me and want to go in to the cellar.
I always thought it couldn't be the right temperature in there because the restaurant was wormer than wine should be stored (12-16 degrees C), but I was wrong. It had a great temperature!
But of course, these wines are ready to drink.
But just look at this! I want this!
