Being abroad, some time will miss the most is the Indonesian cuisine, especially during Ramadan like this. Gathering the family at iftar and sahur and enjoying mother's cooking, is certainly a missed warm moment.
However, what can I do, because of the impossible conditions, I have to make peace with the situation. So, to treat my longing for Indonesian dishes, I went to enjoy Nasi Lengko, a specialty from Cirebon, West Java in AREMBY Shop
Nasi Lengko (Lengko Rice), the food from Cirebon, Wes Java. Usually, Indonesian people recognize rice as a staple food. It is not surprising that various regions in Indonesia have various kinds of processed rice with different characteristics and pleasures from one another.
Lengko rice is a combination of the main ingredients of rice with a variety of healthy vegetables and side dishes, such as fried tofu, fried tempeh, bean sprouts, chives, and cucumber.
Apart from being complemented by healthy ingredients, the deliciousness of the rice is also thanks to the splash of peanut sauce. as a complementary seasoning. The pleasure of this peanut sauce is very influential in producing delicious sticky rice.
Lengko rice in general has a savory and sweet taste. for spicy connoisseurs sticky rice can be added with chilies to produce a spicy taste according to your taste. Not to mention the added sprinkling of fried onions which makes the nuances of the sticky rice taste so complete.
However, because I'm a typical person who can't eat without soup, so I ordered a portion of tamarind vegetables at a price of NT$ 30 or equivalent to US$ 1.2 and fried dumplings NTD 50 or equal to US$ 2.2 for Lengko rice price of NT$ 150 or equivalent to US$ 5.17.
My orders are:
• a plate of Lengko rice the price rice of NT$ 150
• a bowl soup vegetables the price of NT$ 30
• a small plate Fried shiomay the price NT$ 50
AREMBY itself is an Indonesian shop located in the Sinchuang area, New Taipei City. It's quite far from work, because I have to change trains twice. However, to treat the longing for Indonesian menu, so I went there.
To be able to eat at this place must comply with the precautionary protocol. Because the current COVID-19 condition in Taiwan is very severe. So that shop owners apply social distancing when sitting and enjoying food.
My opinion,
Overall, this menu is highly recommended for knowing more about Indonesian cuisine, because to be honest, I have never eaten it before. In fact, here I can enjoy the sticky rice menu from Cirebon, West Java-Indonesia.
That's all my story about #NasiLengko🍚. Thanks for stopping and reading. I am very happy to be able to share my recipe, photography, and my life as an Indonesian in Taiwan. See you in the next post. May we all always be given health and prosperity always.
