Hello all my #foodie friends, it's Friday and time to start flingin" the food. Put on your aprons and masks,😝 it's gonna get messy. There is no reason at all not to start the fight, food feds the soul, therefore, slapping it around will only #makemesmile.
So let me do a re-cap. I am the proud owner of THREE, that's 3, I mean, 3, #foodfightfriday belts.
They are a special treat that is given to us from the #foodfightfriday crew for outstanding work in the kitchen, the #garden, the local food joint or any where else you can find, something to do with food.
Today was a day of inspiration, the weather was fantastic, the trees were blooming and the wildflowers were, well, just wild. Wow, #amazingnature at it's best.
I needed a day like this, with this dang virus, and I have been missing the kids and grand-kids A-LOT. We try to stay busy, which is a given living on a #farm, this is planting season.
This is our main veggie garden.
Raised beds are the only way to go when you are "mature" gardeners. The ole knees thank us for it.
Since the dreaded "virus" came to Upstate NY, we have stayed close to home. What's nice, is we live in a town with only 536 people, including the sweed and I, so not much worry with over exposure to other humans, unless we chose to be. We keep our circle tight.
So now that y'all know where I am coming from, let's proceed to some #food.
Let's start with some shrimp on the barbie.
I peeled the shrimp, added some seasoned salt and fresh ground black pepper. Chopped some fresh garlic, squished some fresh lemon, and doused the bowl of those lovely babies with extra virgin olive oil.
Put them in the frig for 2 hours.
Then skewered them up.
Popped them on the grill for about 3 minutes per flip.
Finally, the secret ingredient...BUTTER!!!
Now just a tab will do, we don't want to spoil the healthfulness of this meal, but a little butter adds just the right sweetness we all deserve during such trying times.
Adding a healthy green salad, some sweet basil and tomatoes completes this delicious, healthy meal done in less than 20 minutes.
Life is good here on the #homestead, #sustainablelivin is our goal. We work hard at it, no doubt, but it is so rewarding growing our own food. From seed to plants to harvest, life at it's best. From mother earth, to our tummies.
