Greetings to all my friends on hive platform. Thank you for touring my article. So today i am going to make "African Salad", it's an easy menu. The technique isn't always difficult. Cooking has no proper or wrong rules whether or not we observe the stairs or not. Usually, i am not excellent at cooking, but if there's a menu that i love, i'll cook it properly and scrumptious.
But before I proceed I would like to say a little about "African salad" also known as Abacha, which is the native name. You can either call it African salad or abacha, African salad is popular in the Eastern part of Nigeria. It is made using dried, shredded cassava. You can eat it as a snack or a full meal. It is a delicious west African food that is native to the ndi Igbo (people of Igbo) and it is usually prepared with palm oil, crayfish, ugba, etc.
There are two ways of preparing it.(cooked and uncooked) and I'll be sharing the uncooked method I love putting garden egg to my Abacha so I had to prepare mine with it so i also added cucumber slices at the side. Now let's get started
Meal course; lunch
Serves; four people, depending on the quantity you are preparing
Preparation time; 5 minute
Ingredients;
1.A bowl of abacha(dried cassava)
2.One small akanwu
3.one cooking spoon of palm oil
4.two cup of ground nut
5.garden egg
6.One fat onion
7.small quantity of peppe
8.vegetable leave
9.seasoning cube
10.fish or meat
Now it's preparation time
Soak abacha(dried cassava)in a cold water for 5minutes to be soft
While the abacha is soaking. Cut the onions, vegetable and garden eggs. Pound the groundnut in a mortar or blend with a
Soup blender
Soak the akanwu in 10ml of water in a soup
Plater and filter out the water into a pot. While its soaking filter out the abacha in a basket let the water drain out.
Akanwu This is also known as potash
Add a tablespoon of palm oil in the filtered akanwu water and stir,it will turn to a semi thick in yellow colour.
It should look like the picture below
Pour in your abacha in the mixture and stir until mixed.
Add in your garden egg(chopped), Onion, blended peppe, seasoning cube, vegetable groundnut and salt to taste.
Stir the mixture together until it's all mixed.
I already have my fish and gbomo so i just dish out some and enjoy
I love this meal so much, I believe u would love it too.
