"There is no sincere love than the love of food."
-George Bernard Shaw
I may have food intolerances and don't seem to gain weight, but I do love food hunting. As the adage says, love of food is the only sincere love 😂. So if you can't love someone, or no one is loving you, just love food. It will make you live longer, lol.
If you still remember my food blog about Vietnamese Pineapple Fried Rice, I mentioned that I was expecting the pineapple fried rice to be in fresh pineapple fruit, just like in the menu book. However, my expectations weren't met as the one that was served was just a big plate of fried rice with some fresh pineapple, lol.
I was walking in Kowloon City looking for something to eat when I came across a street with an array of Thai restaurants. Then the Thai Palace caught my attention. I checked its menu book right away and I was glad to see the photo of fried rice in fresh pineapple. That was definitely the one I was looking for.
The Thai Palace has two restaurants in a row. The first one was bigger and looked fancy, so I entered the smaller one, yet cozy. It may be small but you will feel the Thai ambiance inside. There are some portraits and displays that represent Thai. On the wall are some pieces of art and outside at the entrance are two statues of Thai women. I wasn't sure of what was written on the board outside the restaurant, but it has something to do with donations. The restaurant is probably collecting donations which will be used to help those less fortunate people.
I decided to sit in the corner so it'll be comfortable to take photos and videos.
Finally, I was able to find the fried rice in fresh pineapple which I'd been yearning for a long time. I ordered a glass of mango smoothie despite the quite cold temperature. Well, the truth is, the prices of water and smoothie have only small differences, so why not order the tastier drink? The smoothie was served first, and as I tasted it, it didn't taste artificial but rather fresh mango flavor. At least, it was worth the price.
A few minutes later, my main order was served and I was shocked by its size. It's a big serving and good for two people so I just ate slowly to finish my orders.
The fried rice has fresh pineapple chunks, and it was served in a fresh pineapple shell or the tough part of the pineapple after scraping the core and flesh off of it.
It was yellowish in color and I was uncertain of the flavor. Probably some Thai herbs and seasonings were used, or some ginger or curry powder. Apart from fresh pineapple chunks, some ingredients include pork floss on top of it, cashew nuts, corn, carrots, and egg, and I also ate some octopus, clam or oyster (I was uncertain what it was), and some shrimp. So it was like pineapple-seafood fried rice.
In the end, I wasn't able to finish my mango smoothie as I felt too full. Cravings solved! I went back home with a happy tummy. At night, I just ate some fresh fruits as my tummy was still heavy.
That's all for today's blog.
