Some months ago, I had me a kwavin' fowa schwimps, and I was exploring a new supermarket (new to me, but not new to this area) LIDL.
They had an impressive assortment of good looking frozen (and not frozen) seafood.
So I got this bag, the schwimps was HUGE.
Too big for shrimp cocktail, and that wasn't my craving, I wanted some Fwied Schwimps.
I tried them (not breaded) in my air fryer, and was not impressed and they'd been in my freezer all this time.
One day last week (sadly no pics) I got them out, thawed them slowly overnight, double dipped with flour/egg/flour and pan fried them.
I let them go a little too long, but they were delicioso, but they were just too much, being this large. These were what I didn't cook last week
Now as the package says, these were de-headed and de-veined, but still had the shells and tails on.
So this afternoon I shelled them (see above)
Then, a first for me, I "Butterflied" them:
I had purchased this breading mix for seafood last week as well
And had intended to try it in the air fryer, but I didn't want to chance messing up the last of these giant schwimps, so, I did the egg wash and breaded them for fwying
Then one by one, I dropped them in my Fry Daddy
To get the stink outta my oil (I hope) I cooked a tater, last minute thought.
Mama always said that if you cooked fish or shrimp in your oil, everything after that would taste fishy, unless you cooked potatoes in the oil.
I could have KICKED MY A$$ for not thinking about using that leftover egg to make hushpuppies.
Several days ago, I made (canned) stewed tomatoes with rice (on the side). I'd eaten it for several nights, but tonight, I thought to myself:
"Self! You got Fresh Frozen Home Grown Maters in dat der fweezah"
So I thawed one of the two large bags I put away just enough to get some to add to my already prepared pot, to which I also added the rice
And let me tell you all, hit were sum kinda good too!
