Greetings beautiful people of hive,
Today I'm sharing with you how I cook fresh native shrimp into sanigang without using artificial flavourings and of course with my homegrown veggies.
If you don't have any idea what is singing it's a dish that originated in the Philippines. Typically composed of stew fish, meat, vegetables and tamarind flavouring.
But, today we're cooking it differently. As we know we have many different types of artificial additives for cooking siningang that we can purchase in stores.
So, today I'm using Kamias locally we call iba(bilimbi/cucumber tree) as a souring agent for our soup. I came up with that idea because I was walking around my area and noticed that kamias is already in the season but no one would like to pick them not unless they need them for cooking it is because of its tangy and sour taste.
And since my area is surrounded by ponds so usually early in the morning, most fishermen sell their catches. I was lucky that morning that I was able to buy the fresh native shrimp and it was so cheap (than the market price)that I bought each heap for 1$. I bought two heaps so I'm cooking them into two different dishes that I'm going to share with you the recipe. One for breakfast and one for lunch.
Breakfast dish
Above I mention sinigang and that was my plan for breakfast so that early in the morning my family could sip delicious hot soup to start up the day.
I immediately went to search for ingredients I went to the place where the kamias is and pick some for free.
iba/Kamias
I also pick a few veggies needed from my garden.
eggplants
water spinach
I also used okra, ginger and onion that I bought from the market yesterday.
all Ingredients used
Shrimps

eggplants 2 pieces
