Indonesia is a country that is rich in spices and has more than 1000 tribes spread across various regions in Indonesia. With so many ethnic groups, Indonesia is also rich in traditional food and drinks brought by each of these tribes.
Well, for hive friends, don't be bored to keep following our posts, because today I will share about one of Indonesia's special foods, Pecal.
Broadly speaking, Pecal is almost the same as a vegetable salad, which is a heavy meal consisting of various kinds of vegetables mixed with spices, except that here Pecal is mixed with peanut sauce.
In Indonesia in general, and especially in my area, there are many pecal sellers that taste good at very cheap prices and fill the stomach and are healthy and lined up along the road. Only with Rp. 10,000 to Rp. 15,000 or the equivalent of US$ 1 Dollar up to 1.5 Dollars when you can enjoy this Indonesian food.
Because this afternoon I was lazy to cook so I decided to buy pecals at the nearest stall. Pecal here is very abundant in seasoning and very large portions and the price is also cheap, the spices produced are also still fresh because when there are new buyers the pecal seasoning is made.
The ingredients needed to make the pecal seasoning are:
2-5 pieces of fresh cayenne pepper (depending on taste)
A little shrimp paste
The tip of the little finger kencur
1 clove of garlic
Hot water that has been mixed with tamarind water
Brown sugar
Mashed peanuts 1 small spoon
How to make:
- Grind fresh cayenne pepper, shrimp paste, kencur, and a little salt
- After smooth input 1 small spoonful of fried peanuts that have been mashed
- After mixed well, add palm sugar and grind until smooth
- After all the spices are evenly flushed with half a glass of hot water that has been mixed with a little tamarind so that it tastes fresher
- The pecal seasoning has been completed and can be mixed into the vegetables you like.
- And don't forget to add crackers on top to make it taste even more delicious
(This ground seasoning is for 1- to 2 servings)
