Hey all HIVE friends, see you again with us today, it's been a long time since I shared a recipe with you and pampered my husband's stomach with my processed creations in the kitchen. Today I will make steamed sponge cake from purple sweet potato, it is very beautiful, do you have purple sweet potato in your area or country? in my area this yam is known as sweet potato because of this yam tree that spreads. This sweet potato has 3 colors, namely white, orange and purple. Although the color is different, the taste of this sweet potato is still the same, sweet and soft textured after steaming.
During our monthly shopping last Saturday I found this purple sweet potato seller, compared to the other two colors of sweet potato, purple sweet potato is more difficult to get. Because it's pretty hard to get this sweet potato, so I bought this sweet potato up to 3 kilograms as my stock to make food recipes that I will share at HIVE of course. And now I will share my first recipe with purple sweet potato ingredients. You can try it at home, obviously this recipe is fail-proof.
Materials needed :
1. 150. Grams of purple sweet potato
2. 50 grams of sugar
3. 100 grams of medium protein flour
4. 4 eggs
5. Half a teaspoon of baking powder
6. Half a teaspoon of cake softener
7. 100 grams of butter, (I use all-purpose margarine)
How to make :
1. Peel the purple sweet potato, cut into several parts so that it cooks quickly, then steamed for about 10 minutes
2. After the sweet potato is cooked, remove and drain then mash the sweet potato until smooth.
3. Combine eggs, sugar and cake softener, beat using a mixer until fluffy about 10 minutes.
4. While waiting for the eggs to expand, you can preheat the steamer, while melting the existing butter.
5. After the egg expands, the sweet potato that has been mashed stir until smooth and there are no lumps of sweet potato
6. After the sweet potato is perfectly flat, add the flour, baking powder and stir again until evenly distributed, remember until it is completely evenly distributed and the color of the dough is all purple.
7. After mixed evenly, add the melted butter and mix again until evenly distributed
8. After all the dough is evenly distributed, put it in a pan that has been greased with a little oil, then steam for about 15 minutes using medium heat.
9. After 15 minutes of steaming, open the lid of the steamer and poke with a cardamom whether the dough is still stuck or not.
10. If there is no dough sticking to the fork, then the dough is cooked and the fire can be turned off the stove.
11. Remove the dough and let it cool
12. The dough is ready to be chilled and served to eat with the family.
This purple sweet potato cake is an anti-fail recipe, why do I say that because it is my first time making this purple sweet potato cake and the success rate of my steamed cake is 90 percent. Why not 100 percent because I made some mistakes so that when the sponge is cold and the dough is turned over, it will look like the butter has not been completely mixed, so the appearance of my purple sweet potato cake has a slight appearance of the color of the white butter pile.
Even though it's not perfect, my steamed sweet potato cake is very soft in taste, and the resulting texture is dense and then my sponge expands perfectly and the taste is also not too sweet..hurray
When the sponge is cut, you will see the purple sweet potato that has been mashed so that it forms its own pattern and the sponge looks very beautiful, you have to make it, friends.
